Meet the puppies (updated)

Koska väsymys oli selkeästi riittävä, pennuilta puuttuivat sukupuolet, asia on nyt korjattua ja sukupuoli löytyy pennun kohdalta. Pahoittelen ja vetoan väsymykseeni.
Since I seem to have been tired enough, puppies were missing their sex, but it's all fixed now and you can find their sex along with other info. I apologize and blame tiredness.

Nyt  kun on saanut hiukan nukuttua Hetan synnytyksen jälkeen, niin voisi laittaa pentujen kuvat esille viimein. Sen verran vähillä unilla on menty viimeaikoina, että koko yön kestänyt valvominen oli hieman liikaa että olisi enää jaksanut kuvia laittaa.

Heta synnytti kaikkiaan 9 pentua, ikävä kyllä yksi pennuista syntyi kuolleena. Mutta meille jäi vielä 8 reipasta pentua, 4 urosta ja 4 narttua. Pennuista neljä on ”normaalisti” värittyneitä, 3 punertavaa ja 1 ruskea. 4 pennuista taas on vaaleana syntyneitä, ne tummuvat ajan kanssa ja ruskean määrä yleensä lisääntyy myös. Vaaleana syntyneitä osasi kyllä odottaa, sillä pentujen isä on vaaleana syntynyt. Mutta nyt jo näkee että ruskeaa on tullut selkeästi lisää, vaikkei se suoraan edestä otetussa kuvassa näykkään, mutta ensi kerralla kuvaan pennut sitten sivusta.


Now that I've had a bit of sleep after Heta's whelping, I could put some pictures of the puppies at last. I've had so little sleep recently, that staying up throughout the night due the whelping was a little too much for me so that I would've put up pictures earlier.

Heta gave birth to 9 puppies in all, unfortunately one was a stillborn. But we still have 8 lively puppies, 4 males and 4 females. 4 of the puppies are “normally” colored, 3 reddish and 1 brown. And 4 are “light born”, they darken in time and more brown usually appears. I did know that there could be light-colored puppies, since their father is also light born. But you can already see that there is clearly more brown, even though it's hard to see from photo taken full face, next time I'll take pictures from side.

3.. 2.. 1.. Puppies!

Meillä synnytettiin viime yönä pitkään ja hartaasti, mutta lopputuloksena on 7 ihanaa pentua, 3 urosta ja 4 narttua, ja ikäväksemme yksi kuolleena syntynyt.
Heta voi hyvin, mutta on väsynyt, pennutkin tuntuvat sen mielestä vähän hankalilta, mutta se menee varmasti ohi pienellä levolla.

Heta had her puppies last night, it took quite a time but we ended up with 7 beautiful puppies, 3 males and 4 females, and unfortunately one stillborn.
Heta is fine but tired, and she seems to think the puppies are bit hard to understand, but little bit of rest will probably fix that.

Heta päätti yllättää meidät ja tehdä vielä yhden pennun, niinpä meillä on 8 elossa olevaa pentua, 4 urosta ja 4 narttua.
Heta desided to supprise us and give birth to one more puppy, so now we have 8 living puppies, 4 males and 4 females.

Maybe we'll reach 3, maybe we won't..

4, of a morning?

Edellinen yö nukuttiin sitten viimein pentuhuoneessa, ja aamulla patjalle (ja minun tyynylleni) mönki tällainen.
We finally slept at the puppy room last night, and in the morning this crawled on my mattress (and my pillow).

Heta on ollut hieman levoton ja läähätellyt, josko pennut vaikka syntyisivät ennen viikonloppua.
Heta has been a bit restless and been panting, maybe the puppies are born before the weekend.

Nyt ollaan vuorokaudessa 57, joka tarkoittaa että Rouva Maha saattaa synnyttää ihan milloin vain.
We're now at day 57, which means Heta may give birth at any time.

Vielä vähän lyhennettiin karvoja mahasta että saatiin edes tissit näkyviin.
We cut some more fur from her belly to get the teats on sight.

Lauantai / Saturday

Tänään tuli aloitettua Hetan takapään siistiminen. Niin pitkällä karvalla kun Hetalla on, synnytys olisi todella sotkuinen jos karvoja ei siisti. Niinpä takapää saa keventyä karvasta jotta päästään vähemmällä pesemisellä ja sotkulla.
Ja ero on ihan silmin nähtävissä tässä turkin pituudessa.

Today we started cleaning Heta's rear end. With such long fur as Heta has, whelping would be really messy if fur isn't trimmed. Thus, the rear end gets lightened in order to get away with less washing and mess.

And the difference in fur length is quite easily visible to the eye.

Päätettiin myös ottaa samaan kuvaan "kolme" sukupolvea. Eli Heta mahansa kanssa, sekä Hetan vanhemmat.

We also decided to take picture of "three" generations. So here's Heta with her stomach and as well as her parents.

Keskiviikko / Wednesday

Meillä on Hetan kanssa ollut rauhallista ulkoiluseuraa, tässä kuvassa Hetan velipuoli samasta isästä, Totoro (Kipazin Mentha Gracilis).

We've had peaceful company outdoors with Heta, her half-brother from the same father, Totoro (Kipazin Mentha gracilis).

Maha ei ole vielä mikään suuren suuri, pienehkö ja sievä. Pennut tosin pitää omia bileitään, aina kun äitinsä ei itse potki kun viimeistä päivää selällään lattialla.

Stomach is not yet a very big, rather small and pretty. The puppies are kicking already, whenever their mother is not kicking on the floor on her back while being patted.

Tietysti vatsan koko on myös paljolti kiinni kuvakulmasta. Vatsan saa joko kokonaan häviämään..
Of course, the stomach size is also largely depended on the angle. You can either make it to disappear..

Toinen päivä / Second day

Hetan kanssa on nyt harjoiteltu yhteiseloa yhden yön verran, ja melkein kaksi päivää. Hyvin voi sanoa, että nukkumista pitänee vielä hetki harjoitella, tosin ensi viikolla siirrytään pentuhuoneeseen nukkumaan, joka siis tarkoittaa minulle lattialla olevaa patjaa siihen saakka että pennut ovat riittävän vanhoja.

Tänään oli vuorossa myös kauppareissu että on Hetalle ruokaa, ja nythän sitä on.. sellainen 20 erilaista, josko joku maistuisi. Myös ensimmäinen purkki äidinmaidonvastiketta tarttui mukaan.


We've been practicing living together with Heta for one night now, and almost two days. I can say that sleeping isn't easy, but next week we will move to the puppy room to sleep, which means mattress on the floor to me until the puppies are old enough.

Today it was time for the shopping trip to get some food for Heta, and now we really have some.. about 20 different flavors, maybe some of them are tasty enough for her to eat. Also, I grabbed the first box of milk formula for us.

Jos ruoka ei maistu, niin kasvattajahan syöttää vaikka lusikalla tässä kohdassa. / 

If the food doesn't taste, the breeder will feed even with a spoon at this point

Varjossa on tänään ollut 29 astetta, ja se on Hetan mielestä kyllä vähän liikaa. / 

It was 29 degrees in the shadow today, and Heta thinks it is a bit too much.

Tänään Heta sitten muutti äitiyslomalle meidän luokse. Sunnuntai on ollut lämmin ja aurinkoinen, joten Hetan olo on ollut hieman tukala, mutta sisällä on toistaiseksi sen verran viileämpää että läähätys on loppunut.
Pentuhuonetta on laitettu valmiiksi ja etsitty kaikkea synnytyksessä tarvittavaa tavaraa. Vielä pitää hakea ruokaa Hetalle, mutta sitten voidaan odotella rauhassa pentujen syntymää.

So today Heta moved in with us to spend the maternity leave. Sunday was warm and sunny, and it has been bit hard for Heta, but it is still so much cooler inside that she has stopped panting.
Puppy room is done, and all the necessary stuff for the whelping has been found. We still need to buy food for Heta, but then we can peacefully wait for the birth of the puppies.

Tänään kävi vierailulla taas ihana maha. Se alkaa olla jo jonkun kokoinenkin, ja näkyä kaikkien karvojekin keskeltä. Ruokakaan ei maistu, ei edes herkut. Vielä olisi 24 vuorokautta laskettuun aikaan.

Today we got visited by the pretty lady and her stomach again. It is starting to get bigger and, you can actually see it from under the fur. She's not eating well for now , not even the goodies. And we still have 24 more days to go.
